Gongs

Our hammered gongs are made from brass in a blackened or polished finish. Our smaller bells or spun brass gongs (called Rin) are imported from Japan. We also carry a high quality Japanese iron gong and a Singing Bowl from Nepal and other sacred instruments. Gong diameter sizes are given. In general, the larger the gong, the deeper and more resonant the tone.

Incense burners for offering incense sticks or powdered incense. Sand is used to keep the sticks upright.

Japanese Incense

Japanese Incense

Japanese incense is known for its purity and subtle blending. In Japan, blending incense is considered an art form, and appreciating incense is considered a form of meditation known as listening to incense. A 9" stick will burn for about 40-45 minutes, a 5" stick will burn about half an hour.

tibetan incense

Tibetan Incense

Tibetans have been making and offering this incense to shrines and altars for centuries. More pungent and earthy than Japanese varieties. Imported from the Tibetan refugee communities in India and Nepal. We have repeated the makers' colorful claims on the boxes for your consideration. The long sticks (usually about 13") will burn for over 45 minutes.
