The Supreme Thought
Bodhichitta & The Enlightened Society Vow
By the Kongma Sakyong II
Jampal Trinley Dradul
“For Shambhalians to create enlightened society, they must rouse a level of consciousness akin to what the bodhisattva invests in the bodhisattva vow. The fervent thought to create enlightened society should be at their mind’s apex. Creating enlightened society should be their first thought every morning, their last thought at night, and even the thought that pervades their dreams, because the Shambhala teachings are essentially a pathway by which enlightened society is established. Just as bodhisattvas are born intentionally to help all beings, it is said that the Sakyong warrior has arrived intentionally to establish enlightened society. As well, a great many warriors who feel the inspiration to create enlightened society choose to be born in order to fulfill this intention. Thus, whether one brings one sentient being at a time, or groups of sentient beings at once, as in the bodhisattva vow, or brings all beings to enlightenment at a societal level, as in Shambhala, the end is eventually the same." —from The Supreme Thought: Bodhichitta and the Enlightened Society Vow
